What’s up? The smartass may respond with ‘the sky/roof/ceiling’. Someone a bit more philosophical may respond with “define ‘up’,” or even “what is ‘up’,” both which I’d file under the smartass answer too. My answer?
Mel stopped by between her trip from Eugene to Hood River but got stuck in traffic on her way up and came back late on the return, so we didn’t hang out much. We did watch The Posidon Adventure though, it’s a decent movie, definitely better than I expected.
Since Mel was stuck in traffic Friday I went to a poker game. Got to see some people I haven’t seen in quite some time, had some fun, made some money, all was good.
I went to Salmon River to scout camp sites with Jared and Josie. We got a little side tracked though and just hung out at one of the swimming holes. Cold water and hot air feels good when you’re not in the water. Last year Jared and I thought it would be neat to build some cairnes in the river and see if they were still there a year later. We weren’t too suprised to see that they weren’t there but it seems that we started something as there were several when we got there. Of course we had to join along and recreate some. I think Jared gave up after several tries but I think I got mine to 8ft tall, I had to strech to get the top stones on.
When we finished playing we went back to Portland, did some shopping, and finished at my place with a raviolli dinner and The Emperor’s New Groove.
Went paintballing with Paul, Thomas, and five others. I’ve never been before but it was hella fun, came out of it relatively unwounded too except where I skinned a knee and a paintball broke a vein on my bicep, it’s bruising nicely. The only downside were these punk-ass kids who wanted to play with us. It pisses me off a bit just thinking about them but what am I going to do? I just hope that I wasn’t as bad as they were when I was their age.
All in all, a good weekend if I do say so myself, which I do by the way.
Labor day weekend was a bit more ambiguous until tonight. The plan was to go to a party thing on Friday. Saturday was either camping with Jared, Josie, and some others OR go camping/climbing with some others out at Smith Rock. I wasn’t so sure about the climbing since I wouldn’t be able to leave till Saturday and be travelling alone to catch up with them. That was until I was told that they weren’t going till leave till Saturday, mainly because of me. So now I feel kind of obligated to go, but I don’t think that’s a problem. Beyond that the plans are still floating but I think Paul wants to go paintballing again before the end of the weekend which would involve us returning early Monday at the latest, but we’ll see.
I’ll be updating this post with some pics probably tomorrow/today (Wednesday).
